Dan Webb Blackwater Four Tonner - SOLD

The Blackwater Four Tonners are an evolution of the popular Blackwater Sloop, designed and built in Maldon, Essex by Dan Webb & Feasey. The design was launched in 1935 and was available with gaff or Bermudian rig; ‘Catspaw’ is of the Bermudian variety and comes with vanished wooden spars and Ratsey & Lapthorn sails.

‘Catspaw’ benefits from a modern Yanmar 1GM10 engine, brand new keel bolts and chainplates (unfitted). Although she has been ashore for a couple of years she has been well stored and does not require much work to return her to fine condition.

The Blackwater Four Tonner falls into the style of boats known as Pocket Cruisers for their size, family centric designs and versatility. Many of the most famous Pocket Cruiser designs originate from the rivers of East Anglia including several Woodbridge designs such as Robertson’s ‘Mrs. Ranzo’, Whisstock’s Deben Four Tonner and our own Deben Cherub. In recent years Woodbridge Boatyard has seen these boats return to fashion and has become a centre for their restoration and enjoyment.
