Falcon ‘Highly Commended’ in the Classic Boat Awards

We’re delighted to say that Falcon has been voted ‘Highly Commended’ in her category in the Classic Boat Awards 2022! The Classic Boat Awards are decided by public vote, so the result demonstrates great admiration for the boat and the work that has gone into her.

FALCON

Restored by Woodbridge Boatyard, Designed by Bjarne Aas, Built 1956, LOD 33ft (10m), Rig bermudan sloop

When Sir Michael Harrison died in 2019, aged 83, he’d owned and sailed his wooden International One Design on Suffolk’s rivers for 35 years, using her for racing, family cruising and teaching his children to sail. After a thorough refit, including new transom, replacement of many ribs and frames, all of her deck beams, both shear planks, a new Lignia deck and new wooden spars to replace the old aluminium ones, his son Edwin will continue the tradition.

Classic Boat Awards

Today’s classic sailing and motorboat scene owes its existence to the passion and dedication of many people – boat owners, regatta organisers, crew, naval architects, volunteer yacht club officers and of course the skilled boatbuilders who have built or restored the vessels on our list. The annual Classic Boat Awards celebrate them all.
