Deben Cherub 'Lindy Lou' - SOLD

The 6th of 17 Deben Cherubs, ‘Lindy Lou’, was built here at Everson & Sons in 1931 and has spent her 90 years being enjoyed around the East Coast. In 2020 ‘Lindy Lou’ was in our workshop when we got the news that her sister ‘Ariel’ had won the Classic Boat Magazine Restoration of the Year Award. ‘Ariel’ having been the last boat in our shed before ‘Lindy Lou’ spurred works to her to be even more thorough.

‘Lindy Lou’s hull was stripped back to bare wood, several planks were replaced or splined in larch, her deck was replaced in Robbins Elite ply sheaved in glass atop several new deck beams, she received new cabinsides and coaming in iroko, new oak stem, refurbished spars and new rubbing strakes and toerails. Whilst carrying out the restoration it was also decided to install a new auxiliary propulsion system, converting her from outboard drive to inboard with a 12hp Dolphin petrol engine coupled to all new running gear. ‘Lindy Lou’ was finished with new Epifanes brightwork, signwriting and a custom boom tent.

She is presently the finest example of a Deben Cherub anywhere and offers a brilliant opportunity to join a friendly and active fleet of pocket cruisers with history and charm in abundance and a passionate local following.

Woodbridge Boatyard is presently home to 7 Deben Cherubs including Classic Boat Magazine restoration of the year Award-winning ‘Ariel’, amongst many other gaff and traditionally rigged vessels, all of which add to the already picturesque River Deben, Suffolk.
